在唐朝，雲燁發現一個跟死去的女友小冉長得一模一樣的女人，李安瀾。陰差陽錯中，李安瀾救了雲燁一命，並強行拿走了他身上唯一一件小冉的遺物——發簪，作為救命答謝。
雲燁為了拿回發簪，又打不過武藝高強的李安瀾，只好忍聲吞氣一路跟著李安瀾當她的廚師，希望換回發簪。
在做飯過程中，雲燁利用自己的現代知識提煉出細鹽以改善口感，沒曾想竟令精鹽稀缺的唐朝人嘖嘖稱奇，不過這也引起了正在邊境開戰的吐蕃軍和大唐軍的注意。
