: With the palace examination imminent, rumors spread through the Yingtian Academy about scholars being summoned by Yama, the King of the Underworld. Prompted by a peculiar letter from his respected mentor, the academy's dean, Bao Zheng, sets out with Zhan Zhao to uncover the truth behind these unsettling events. However, the academy is far from ordinary. The dean is missing, and scholars are dying one after another. An eerie atmosphere envelops the entire institution.
